La Bodeguita de Cubana

La Bodeguita de CubanaIt gets pretty darn cold in La Paz. But once you walk into the tiny and cozy La Bodeguita de Cubana, things sure do heat up. The Cuban music is loud, the drinks are strong, and the food is spicy. For a real taste of old Havana, order ropa vieja (shredded beef in a spicy tomato-based sauce with garlic, onions, and pepper) accompanied by a mojito.

The chilindrĂ³n de cordero (lamb with tomatoes, onions, peppers, and beer) is another house specialty. All the dishes come with rice and beans, yuca with little bits of pork and onions, or fried bananas. Occasionally, you can hear live Cuban music on Friday nights. Now, if only they served Cuban cigars for dessert.
